WHAT TO DO THIS FATHER’S DAY IN NEW YORK 2018

June 17th is the day we celebrate dads, grandfathers and father figures in general, and New York City is the perfect place to do just that.  Any holiday, and any day for that matter, can be special in New York City – and with that in mind, here’s how to celebrate Father’s Day in New York City 2018.

Going on a cruise of New York City is particularly dad-worthy. Sailing around Manhattan, cruising past all the grand sights of the city is a memorable, and relaxing, way to spend Father’s Day in New York City. He’ll be able to sit back and see Manhattan from both sides – as well as all the big name highlights, like the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, Governors’ Island, Empire State Building, One World Trade Center and the Chrysler Building. The month of June is usually a beautiful time to be on the Hudson or the East River – you’ll be admiring the sun hitting the water, and the coastal breeze will keep Dad and everyone else at the perfect temperature.

Staying on the subject of travel for a little longer, how about marking Father’s Day in New York with a trip to the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum? All ages of visitors are bowled over by this special place. Guaranteed Dad will find his inner child and sense of wonder, as he explores the resident aircraft carrier, the USS Intrepid – a veteran of World War II, The Cold War and the Vietnam War. Dad can also survey Concorde – the record-breaking passenger jet and Space Shuttle Enterprise, before testing his flying skills in our supersonic jet plane simulator.

If Dad is a sports fan, then you could spend Father’s Day in New York at a baseball game. It’s an experience that’s really synonymous with New York City. This year, on Father’s Day 2018, the Yankees are at home to the Tampa Bay Rays over at the Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, but the Mets are away to the Arizona Diamondbacks, sadly. However, a trip to the Yankee stadium for a home game is quite the ticket. The new stadium has inherited the raucous atmosphere of the old one – it’s an animated, lively pit of fire for visiting teams, and spectators alike. The experience will rock your senses.

For something a little more sedate, you could take a ride with a Gray Line hop-on tour bus for a New York sightseeing tour, and hop off to enjoy a weekend feast over at Smorgasburg – catching all the sights on the way.  Smorgasburg is in Brooklyn – which is a stroke of luck for those of you who do go to the ball game. It is the largest open-air food market in the entire country. On Father’s Day itself you’ll find it at Prospect Park ‘s Breeze Hill – a perfect location in which to sit back and enjoy the sunshine and incredible food. After you’ve fuelled Dad up, then you’re all set to explore DUMBO, one of the most visited areas in Brooklyn.  It’s a neighborhood located Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass – hence the acronym. Home to a whole heap of things to do – like the Brooklyn Bridge Park – a recently transformed waterfront area, full of fabulous views of the Manhattan skyline and boutique shops. The beautiful, century old Jane’s Carousel is nearby – $2 a ride, transporting you to days gone by. Thenthere’s also the mostInstagrammed spot in Brooklyn – down by Washington Street where from the Brooklyn cobblestones, you’ll find a glorious shot of the Manhattan Bridge framing the Empire State.
